Roadmap

Where we’re headed, gently and with purpose.

Some features roll out quietly. Others take a bit longer. Everything on this list is on our radar—and coming when it’s ready.

We’re focused on clarity, sustainability, and usefulness—not speed. Thanks for being patient, curious, and part of the ride.

🚧 In Progress

Things we’re actively working on:

  • GLGD Legacy Page – A tribute to the original Glass Lovers Glass Database, with a short history, and a proper thank-you.
  • Badges by Style / Technique – Expanding contributor badges beyond makers and regions.
  • Timeline View – A new way to explore records by date, with visual markers and filters.
  • Tooltips & Helper Text – Inline guides to explain things like confidence labels and contributor roles.

🛣 Coming Soon

Features or expansions we’ve scoped out and hope to roll out:

  • Expanded Tagging for Objects – Materials, methods
  • Submission Progress Tracking – Contributors will soon see clearer indicators of where their submissions stand, from “received” to “reviewed” to “published.”
  • View History Insights – A new feature will let contributors see how often their entries are viewed—offering a quiet window into the impact their work is having.
  • Swapping Pieces – Managing the process of a piece belonging to someone and being sold or transferred to them
  • Support for Multi-language Labels – Small steps toward broader accessibility
  • Search Improvements – Smarter, faster filters; maybe even saveable views

🧪 Exploring

Ideas we’re still playing with, sketching, or testing quietly:

  • Mobile-First Navigation – Optimizing the experience on small screens
  • Integrated Research Projects Tool – A free, open-access feature for individuals or groups to explore specific topics using data from the archive. Whether you’re tracing object histories, studying patterns, or building a themed collection, the tool supports deeper inquiry and helps you reach conclusions worth sharing. No academic credentials required—just curiosity and a willingness to follow the glass.
  • Visual Navigation / Tag Clouds – Alternate ways to browse by style or theme

As always: if something’s missing or you’ve got a great idea, tell us. Some of the best features come from people who love the site and want to see it thrive.
